Parents and Students,I want to share a devotional thought with you today. It is from the book of Exodus. Exodus 13:17 states, "God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land." God knows what He is doing....He ALWAYS knows what He is doing.
He knew if the children of Israel were faced with a battle with the mighty Philistines that they would want to bail. So He "led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea"(v.18). As a follower of Jesus Christ, what kind of "promised land" are you waiting on in your life? What kind of fulfillment are you needing to take place....and you want it to take place now? God may be taking you and I on the "roundabout way" because He knows the dangers of the enemy and the weakness of our faith to handle such a longing fulfilled immediately.
Be reminded, the Father is chipping away the edges of our lives so we can be conformed to the image of His Son. Something that is of worth takes time, and He will use the time for His glory and for our good. You may ask "Why hasn't God did...(you fill in the blank). The reason is He maybe protecting you until it is the appropriate time for that longing to be fulfilled. Let us keep walking with the Lord, even when it appears we are going on the "roundabout way."
Learning and Leaning,
